Re: ASK THE RECORDING EXPERTS
Hi, I've tried ipad with Quartet and I just avoided the Maestro app and just used it straight into Auria. As to recoding on track 3 - this seems more to do with which inputs are 'armed' for record on Auria. I found that if I was recording from only one input, Auria would pick up the input from whate...

Re: Irig mic and auria
I have the iTrack Solo and it's great. Good for guitar and headphones / monitors as well as providing a good quality mic pre amp with phantom power. I run mine with an SE Electronics SE2000 condenser microphone (about £70) and get really top quality results :P I guess a condenser may be a bit sensit...

Re: ETA on MIDI integration?
Does this mean that I'll be able to trigger drum samples from my midi drum kit? If so, you'll make this particular drummer very happy

Re: Mixing Vocals
Agreed, Mark. Great advice. In terms of the question, I have yet to use the Aux sends at all! I will do next time ;-) I do most things on each channel. If, for example, a background vocal deliberately gets louder as it goes along, you won't want that compressed much or at all. A main vocal (dependin...

Re: Mixing Vocals
Looking back through the posts (to pick up more tips ;-) ) I think what the original post-er may want is a more nuts and bolts bit of advice. In terms of adding bus compression, the idea (I think, at least this is what I do) is that you send, say, all the vocals to a sub group (very easy - tap on th...

Re: Auria, iPad Air, Apogee Quartet & PreSonus FaderPort
Just watched Anthony Alves's YouTube video on the FaderPort and I DEFINITELY want one now. Good for tracking and for mixing. What more could you ask
Thanks for doing the vid, Anthony

Re: INDIE ROCK FROM SWEDEN
I can't really say about Drum apps as I have the benefit of being a drummer! I'm going outside the iPad to BFD eco drummer - amazing sounds - and triggering it from my electric kit. The best looking app to me is probably DrumJam, but Ive not tried it. I was lucky enough to win some amazing monitors ...

Re: How to set up a Vocal Mixing Workflow in Auria?
Great tips, thanks folks for taking the time to share that. As a relative novice, I'm not going to try and add to all that good advice, but just give my endorsement to the FabFilter videos. Here's the EQ one: http://youtu.be/kSNYBbPAvKE This really opened a door to beginning to understand EQ for me....

Re: INDIE ROCK FROM SWEDEN
Really enjoyed that - my kind of music. Favourite bits: Top of the list is the post-chorus guitar part. Don't tinker with that at all. Really good solid counter-melody nicely mixed. Works well. I would be tempted to open with that it's so good, but that's maybe just me. I also like the play-out a lo...

Re: Mixing Vocals
Great advice, folks. I have found being able to hear my mix on decent headphones or, even better, good monitors, usually makes it pretty clear what you're doing wrong. I listened to a load of podcasts and one in particular, TechMuze Academy, had a bluffer's guide to mixing called '[Clinic] Recording...

Re: Best audio interface for PC and ipad air?
I spent days and days trying to set up the audio interface and then getting to grips with Ableton Live. Weeks into the project, I had one lousy track of guitar to show for it, so I flogged the interface and borrowed my band mate's old four track until I got into iPad recording (GarageBand first, the...

Re: Best audio interface for PC and ipad air?
Erm, being honest, Ive never tried  I came over to the iPad because of my hideous experience of trying recording on the PC. It works very nicely on the iPad and _says_ it's compatible with the PC, but I can't give you test results as I start twitching and freaking out if I see a microph...

Re: Auria, iPad Air, Apogee Quartet & PreSonus FaderPort
You've all got me looking at the FaderPort. What about Korg's NanoKontrol? It reckons it does much the same thing and it's loads cheaper. Would it work, does anyone know?

Re: Best audio interface for PC and ipad air?
To answer the original question, I have an iTrack Solo and I've been delighted with it. It managed the transition to my iPad4 (via a lightening adaptor) without a hitch and produces very good results. I had an Alesis dock before which was nothing but trouble. No such problems with the iTrack Solo. T...
