Re: Auria Importing Issues

one should always have the source files uncompressed. Compressed formats are end-user formats for low quality playback devices, not suited for editing or mixing. Mp3 is a heavily compressed format, regardless of bitrate. I think the best way is to transcode all files to .wav before importing. Althou...

Re: Audio output levels / Mastering tutorial

I'm using both. Often only a lowcut or highcut is needed. Or just 'normal' EQing. I think the internal one is excellent to work with. Actually it was the screenshot of the channel strip which convinced me to buy Auria, mainly because of the EQ. The Pro-Q I use for more creative stuff and effects. De...

Re: Audio output levels / Mastering tutorial

full agreement with what you say. The Pro-Q is the one IAP I made, because it can do things I cannot do with the PSP EQ. Equalisers are most important next to the faders.

It is the sound you are paying for. Obviously your first sentence was not exactly what you were trying to say.

Re: Audio output levels / Mastering tutorial

good effort! Regarding specific Auria tutorials; just read on the topic (there are several books), watch mixing/mastering video tutorials. All you're learning can be applied to Auria. What you did is however much better. What you learn through your own work is what matters. Comparing different mixes...

Re: Audio output levels / Mastering tutorial

do IAP plugins sound better than internal plugins? It's possible, but I put this question here for the following reason: I've observed people tend to judge from GUI's and prices. A nice GUI and high price = better, while a cheap plugin with dull GUI must be bad. This may be true in many cases, but n...

Re: How can I run an interface and charge iPad at the same t

thank you for the info, acaonweb. I found another adapter/interface combination that seems to power the iPad: http://forum.audiob.us/discussion/170/what-is-the-best-sound-card-for-ipad-at-the-time-with-new-connector If you combine the CCK connector with a Cablejive Dockstubz you'll be able to charge...

Re: Live performance

works well as an insert (two mono or stereo with iU2) to a desk. Or as a mixer if you input directly.

Re: ASK THE RECORDING EXPERTS

indeed it is a pleasure, for me as well. But I'm active in several audio forums, and rarely really get the feeling my contributions do serve the purpose; there are principles in engineering, but no rules actually. For example, I dislike it when people just throw a multiband compressor on the master ...

Re: Audio output levels / Mastering tutorial

Again I agree. All good stuff and its the older mixers that should share their experience in this forum and thanks for that. I think what the user here is looking for is a direct cure for his problem as it relates to Auria. Accepting the newer style of mixing is always harder for the engineers who ...

Re: ASK THE RECORDING EXPERTS

good advice. Some time ago I've been doing tracking and mixing on a netbook (1.6 GHz Atom CPU, 1 GB RAM) when I was not at home, with resource-hungry plugins (Samplemodeling) and about 15 tracks. You learn very quickly to bounce a recording once it's correct, to make 'room' for the next take. Leavin...

Re: Audio output levels / Mastering tutorial

I bought the Pro-Q not because of its analyser (which I have disabled most of the time), but because it makes better notches than the one in the channel strip. I'm probably totally outdated. I put my hands on the controls and don't really watch what is going on, I just listen to the changes. Visuals...

Re: Audio output levels / Mastering tutorial

while this is all correct, I keep repeating this: one should be able to do a good mix with standard plugins. If that is not the case, new plugins won't help much, and the novice never really learns sound engineering.

audio interfaces with lightning connector

http://www.studiosixdigital.com/iaudiointerface2/ works with a 30-pin-lightning adapter, according to the product description. http://store.griffintechnology.com/ipad/ipad-4th-gen/studioconnect-audio-interface-lightning probably not the first choice, but seemingly the first that can power the iPad.

Re: Suggestion about a toolbar

I fully agree with you, there's room at the bottom (maybe the best place for the Audiobus app bar) and on the other side (left or right). I don't know why I'm a bit reluctant for this matter. I guess it's because I'm not sure if this will affect performance or usability. Actually there's no reason f...
