Re: The Working / Not working audio interfaces thread
We found that the multichannel interfaces by motu don't work with iPads, because they are not class compliant (they need special drivers). Unless motu switches to driverless, there's nothing that can be done... Are you referring to running Auria in "Background Audio Mode" along with Garage...

Re: Effects and memory
Subgroups don't eat up much memory - it's regular tracks that use the most. A work around to save memory is to actually bounce tracks, instead of freezing them. When you're finished bouncing, you can simply delete the plug-ins on that track, and this will free up CPU and memory (whereas freezing onl...

Re: AudioPaste samplerate weirdness - no 44.1 to 48k upconve
Auria doesn't convert sample rates for Audio Copy/Paste currently. It's something we can certainly add, though without much trouble. The other thing you mentioned - being able to use Auria's audio at the same time as Sample Lab, this is difficult for most apps to get right. Auria uses a mode that's ...

Re: Effects and memory
And the left channel issue was already solved in the 1.02 update, which is waiting for review at Apple.

Re: Effects and memory
I'll implement the plugin unloading during freezing, and that'll help a lot. Then, if you start running out of memory because of plug-ins, at least you can freeze to reclaim it.

Re: Effects and memory
I'm certainly not saying there's any problem with using an iPad 2 with Auria. It's got more than enough memory for most projects. In fact, the demo project is 18 tracks with a few plug-ins, and it has no trouble at all on an iPad 2. Even creating a 48 track project is no problem on an iPad 2. But it...

Re: Effects and memory
Another thing I noticed about your project was that you had 36 tracks, but only a few were used. Extra tracks take up memory. After I deleted these extra tracks, your free memory increased to 110MB (with no plug-ins).

Re: Effects and memory
Steve, I tried your project, and here's what I found. Freezing tracks in Auria reduces the CPU load, but it doesn't change the amount of memory used. In other words, if you had a convolution reverb inserted on a track that took 20% CPU and 40MB of memory, freezing this track would reduce the CPU to ...

Steve,
Got it, thanks. I'll have a look tomorrow.
Are you on an iPad 2 or 3?
Thanks,
Rim

Re: Overloud and all things guitar.
It's something we've noticed as well when using the Apogee Jam. It's a great interface, but you need to give it a second or so before you start recording, while it starts up.

Re: Effects and memory
Not a problem at all, I want to see what's going on. It may help others with the same issue. If you have dropbox or something similar, you can send me a link to rim at drumagog (dot com).

Re: Effects and memory
That's not normal. There might be something corrupt with your project. Can you send it to me (zipped)? I'll have a look at it here.

Re: Effects and memory
By the way, one way to know for sure that Auria is closed is that it'll show the logo when starting up. This is how you know that you shut it down. If Auria comes up immediately when you launch it, it wasn't closed, and may still be consuming memory. So make sure you properly close Auria (in the app...

Re: Effects and memory
Good. If you start from a blank slate, you won't have these issues. If you find that you start running out of memory after using Auria for a while (for example, after opening and closing several projects, or using a particular project for days on end), try quitting Auria and restarting it. If this s...

Re: Effects and memory
It's very important to remember that restarting your iPad will not close your background apps. It's counterintuitive, but true. An iPad will reload all your background apps after a restart. So, to really ensure that all your memory is free, you need to restart your iPad AND close all your background...
