MidiBridge will do it. Not exactly simple but pretty straight forward. It's handy for lots of other midi things too!

Cassini is actually a pretty monster synth. Editing goes deep deep. The presets do very little to display its power. Definitely check out the videos of their site for a few programming tips and I think the Sunsine presets are totally worth it.

Yes please @geronimo! I'm greedy: want more aux sends and the ability to route a channel to more than one bus. Want the aux channels to be full channels so that I can stick an EQ or compressor in before say a reverb.

also note that your recording audio settings can have a huge impact on file size. If you record everything in 24 bit/96k stereo your project be quite large as compared to 16 bit/44k (mostly) mono.

yup. you can silence a selection of audio without cutting it. There aren't too many "wave processing" features but there are tons of plugins and very robust automation. For direct processing there's Gain, Normalize, DC Offset, Reverse, and Silence.
